At the moment on Populi, just the student and the professor are notified if a student is failing a course due to absences. In our school, the professor does not have the authority to determine if the student's absence can be considered "excused". That decision is made by the Assistant Academic Dean. It would cut out a step in the process if the Registrar's Office was notified of the failure as well as the professor and student rather than the professor having to notify us and then we contact the Assistant Academic Dean, etc. Or even if we could choose who received those notifications, it would be very helpful.

Peter Neumann It should be up to the institution to decide how absences are to be reported, not Populi. Populi should simply provide the means by which the institution is able to report absences, etc. I think that it is well-intentioned, but a philosophical over-step for Populi to determine how and to who absences should be reported. Please let the institution make the call. Provide us with checkbox options, please.
