Remy Lehner - There's already a word/character counter on discussion comments/replies. Do you want a Max Characters setting that limits them to a certain length on comments and replies similar to how we already have Max Comments and Max Replies?
It's great that there is a word counter when a student is composing a comment/reply. Unfortunately, the faculty does not see the word count once comments/replies are submitted. This is a problem for us because some students write too much. It's such a hassle to copy each chunk of text to a word processor to count. Help!
As faculty, we need to be able to see the number of words in initial posts and replies. The student can see it when they are generating the post, why can't the faculty see it after the post has been submitted? I do not want Populi to autograde it. I want to be able to see the word count and make it part of my assessment. If this already exists, please let us know. It is absolutely absurd that instructors are having to copy and paste student posts into Word documents to determine the word count (several of my colleagues told me this is what they have to do). Thank you!
