It would be excellent if we could put in an effective drop date (or effective date of status change) when dropping a course (or changing from credit to audit) that would be used by the refund schedule calculations.

This could also be useful for R2T4's for USDE, as well as NSLDS reporting.
New school to Populi and I am curious how the effective dates can be tracked, as well. If a student completely withdraws from the school, there can be two different dates needed... 1) the effective date of the withdrawal (last date of academic related activity) and 2) date the school is notified. Auditors may ask for both to determine if enrollment reporting to NSLDS was timely, if exit counseling was notified on time, etc. They aren't necessarily the same date. How are other schools managing this? I am the Fin Aid person and am not the one updating these dates, but need the info. Thanks
We added a date field in student information to house the last activity date used for financial aid calculations (see below). The exit date is used as the notification date and by the business office for tuition refund calculation.
Date of last academic activity (for R2T4 calculation)
We are an online school, so we have started using the Last Date of Attendance that Populi calculates based on assignment & discussion activity for the R2T4 calculation.
However, as of this term, we had to stop doing this because we use Canvas for our LMS now, and the Canvas->Populi integration only syncs grades and not LDA. It would be theoretically possible, but more work, for Populi to develop an integration that queried Canvas for Last Participation to set LDA.
I agree. This is basically what I proposed in 2020:
