It would be beneficial from an admin standpoint to be able to have hidden or unpublished courses within terms. Courses that we can work on and not have opened for registration for students. I know we currently have the option not to publish info within a course but students can still view it as an option under registration.
Yes this would be amazing! I was using the unpublished option this term for classes we intended to be independent study but I didn't realize they would still appear in registration. Big disappointment!
Stephanie Dickerson - You can hide courses from registration with the Self Enrollment setting on the catalog course. If you need assistance with this please open a Support Request.

Can there be a way to do this on an instance basis? For example, we offer a course, but at certain semesters we want to restrict registration to a certain group of people. Is it possible to restrict self-registration based on the course instance and not the course catalog?

Jeff Bakos - The simplest way might be to set Max Enrolled to None and then manually enroll the particular students.
