It would be very beneficial if items that were catalogued would have the date added without having to put it in manually. It is not to much to ask and would benefit when statistics have to be made at the beginning of the next year.

Adam Sentz Matthew Klizek - My understanding is that in library cataloging an acquisition (accession) date is the date the library acquired the resource which won't necessarily be the same date it was added to the cataloging system. Having that default to today's date would likely result in people entering incorrect data without necessarily being aware of it.
