It would be very useful to have the ability to delete Circulation records. Once a book is returned I do not see a reason to keep the record. This would also aid in the privacy of users if we can delete the records. Thank you.

Deacon Vic Broberg I would like to give my opinion as well.
Circulation record information and privacy vary by state. In PA it required a court order to get circulation records. All circulation records are considered Private Information. It is no ones business who previously borrowed a book and in fact most big name Integrated Library Systems have the functionality of purging circ data or not even retaining circ information.
While we do not use Populi's ILS, I think the option to remove/delete/purge circ records would be a wonderful addition. -
Royal Montgomery The only record I need is how often the book itself has circulated, but there's no need to keep patron circulation history after an item has been returned. This is a huge privacy issue as most libraries do not keep circulation records in the interest of patron privacy. Deacon Broberg is also correct in that I would not release circulation information without a warrant - if something has been returned then we shouldn't know who checked it out.
