Quick-view which assignments have been submitted for a particular student

From the student view, it's easy to see which assignments have been submitted (graded and ungraded) from the Assignments page because checkmarks are added. This would be very helpful to see from the teacher's view as well. Currently I have to visit each assignment one by one to see which students have submitted (ungraded) assignments.

Being able to quickly see ungraded submissions would be helpful in the following scenario: The student didn't submit anything for half the term and we are deciding whether or not the student should be dropped. But the student has submitted 5 assignments in the past week, and now they just need to be graded.

The following workarounds exist, but take a long time because each assignment must be clicked one by one:

  • If you go to the course roster and click on a particular student's name, it will take you to a page where you can view all of the assignments that student has submitted for the course. (Well, not really. It shows all the assignments and whether or not a student has received a grade. But there is no indication of submission.)
  • From the same student assignment view, if you click on a particular assignment without a grade it will take you to that student's assignment page and you can see whether the student has submitted anything. For a particular student it still may be faster to just check their ungraded assignments for submissions, rather than having to look through every assignment individually. (This is my current process. I click each assignment page individually for the ungraded assignments to check for submissions. But there is no way to check for submissions any faster than that.)
  • Click on a particular assignment from the Assignments page, and then see which students haven't submitted anything. (This still requires clicking each assignment to get an answer.)

It would be great if there was a column with check marks on the student's Assignment page (as below) that would show submissions - similar to what the students see on their view.
