We would like to see students have the ability to apply their online payment to a specific invoice.

Andy Rice Adam Sentz - Do you have any insight as to whether or not this is something that's being looked into? Because of the way we do billing (specifically, because of the way rent comes due, with tuition often being covered from sources other than online student payments), this is a big need for us. Just wanted to check in on it.

Adam Sentz Andy Rice - My understanding is that because of how much complexity this would add, and that this is, in general (across all our of schools) an uncommon scenario, it's preferable to for it to be handled by billing staff instead of the students.

Andy Rice Thank you for the reply Adam Sentz! We understand. Might it be possible to add a field on the payment submission for comments or "memo" or something similar? We could then instruct our students to use that field to indicate how a payment is intended to be applied so that our billing staff can ensure it was applied correctly. This would be a very helpful accommodation if possible!

Adam Sentz Andy Rice - Is the root issue that different invoices are to be paid by different entities for the same student?

Andy Rice Sort of. While tuition is set on a payment schedule with deadlines, etc., student rent also comes due weekly. Tuition can be paid by the student (e.g. via online payment), but often tuition is covered by a scholarship which gets disbursed at various points throughout the semester (not always corresponding to tuition payment deadlines). So, even though a student may owe and even be overdue by $500 (for example) on tuition, they're intentionally not paying it because they're expecting assistance from the scholarship (or, effectively, from a third party), but what they DO intend to pay is their rent. Likewise, they may wish to pay ahead on rent, prior to the next few rent payment deadlines. But only $70 may go to rent and the rest may go to a tuition payment that's due before the next rent payment comes due.
Sorry, that's probably confusing. Bottom line: there are many times that a student payment needs to be directed to a rent invoice only. At the very least, a memo line would allow a student to indicate their intentions.

Toby Robinson Online payments now have a comment field.

Bri Ballinger I agree with this. If it were possible for the student to choose what invoice they would like to pay would be a huge help to better generate the funds to the appropriate invoice.
For example, we have a few little fees, but if they are not billed, the funds go to another invoice. I would really like it if a couple of our fees were available in a dropdown list form, like "lunch fee" and other minor fees readily available for them to choose to purchase without me putting it in manually.
