Our Academic Admin would like a button to unmask the SSN without editing it. This would allow the registrar roles to see the SSN without the risk of inadvertently editing the value and saving the change.
Maybe a simple eyeball "show/hide" link. Something. Our current SIS has something similar for the web, it unmasks the number for 30 seconds and then re-masks it automatically for security.

This is a great suggestion. We have to copy the SS often to look students up in other systems especially when they are new and we are always Leary of this because we have to edit it and delete the dashes to utilize it, then make sure we don't save it.
It would be great if there was an option to only "View" a social security number for a student rather than having to click "Edit" to see the full social security number.
We frequently have to quickly see student social security numbers for federal websites and other data entry. Currently on the student profiles, the only way to see a student's full social is to click the three-dot menu next to the student's social security number on their info tab then click "Edit Social Security Number." This is less than ideal as it is very easy for someone to inadvertently edit or delete a student's social security number.
I know I can use the data slicer to see unhidden student social security numbers, but the data slicer process is very cumbersome when we just need one student's social quickly. For example when we are on the phone with the Dept. of Ed, or the VA and they ask for the student's social and we need to access it very quickly for that specific student.
It would be great if there was a quick easy way to "See Social Security Number" that prevented someone from accidentally changing/deleting/editing a student's social.

This actually turned out to be pretty simple, so we rolled it out today - there's now an "eye" icon next to social security/social insurance numbers, and once you click that the number is visible for 30 seconds. There's also a clipboard icon that copies the raw number to your clipboard (and strips out the dashes).
