Html for emails would be nice, and even nicer for news items. I would like to be able to post images and/or video on the news feed for students and staff to see on their home page.

I agree that it would be good to fine tune the permissions. Some of my co-workers need the ability to read but not write in certain areas.

I recant! After a semester's worth of a work, I realize that having "Private" as the default visibility for notes is really the best option after all.
